Our players showed a good desire for the contest and took a 4 goal lead into quarter time and 7 goal lead into half time. Our pressure and appetite for the contest maintained throughout the game and we eventually ran out winners by 118 points. We restricted Sandgate to 5 goals for the match in a very good defensive effort. Up the other end of the ground our skipper Bryce Retzlaff finished off some good work up the field with 10 goals and was ably supported forward by Jake Goldsmith (4 goals), Darryn Thomas (4 goals) and Billy Hicks (3 goals). Good players for us on the day were midfielders Billy Hicks and Adam Clarke as well as Retzy up forward with his 10 snags. Well done to first gamer Jarrod Mills who acquitted himself well in his first senior game.

LAST FOUR GAMES OF THE HOME & AWAY

5th August 2017- Wilston Grange - Home

12th August 2017 - West Magpies - Away

19th August 2017 - Broadbeach - Home

26th August 2017 - Mt Gravatt - Home

Reserves Match Report

We have had lots of continual changes to the reserves over the last month and this has impacted on field performances. We went down by 14 points in the end to a Sandgate team that hadn’t won a game for the season. In their favour was a very good Aspley (NEAFL) listed player in Hutchinson, who, due to work commitments, couldn’t play NEAFL or Seniors that afternoon so he played in their reserves and had a huge impact. Our better players on the day were Jacob Sands, Brad Carter and Beau Azzolini in his long awaited comeback from injury. Young James Mohr also played well in his first game of Reserve grade football after playing a half in the colts.

Colts Match Report

We started this match in good fashion and got out to a 31 point start at the first break in good conditions for footy against a Sandgate team that had won just 2 games for the season. Our lead was gradually reduced all day but we dug deep to run out 12 point winners. Sandgate kicked accurately on the day recording 11 goals and just 4 behinds. Our better players on the day were skipper Joel Baxter, Brandon Gibbs and Jack Andreotti.

Tiger Talk - Seniors News - Round 12 2017

Senior Club NewsOur annual Gala Ball was on Saturday night and it was a great night for all that were there with Belinda organising a great event at the QT. Toddy Featherstone put on a vintage dance performance and the D floor saw a lot of action.

Senior Match Report

We faced a strong Surfers outfit that had won their previous 2 games and had their tale up. Our lads were a little flat early and we went into the quarter time 1 point down. The game was an ugly contest and our delivery was very ordinary going into the forward line. Once again our defenders held firm to restrict Surfers to 3 goals after quarter time with 9 rebound 50’s from 9 consecutive forward entries from Surfers. The usual suspects were prominent with Wayde Mills racking up a heap of intercept marks, Bill Hicks providing his usual spark around the contest and Retzy working hard all day long, finishing with 3 goals from CHF. Barry Hall kicked 4 goals from full forward with limited opportunities.

A week off this weekend before heading into the final 5 rounds prior to finals.

Next 3 weeks

22nd July 2017- Bye

29th July 2017 - Sandgate - Away

5th August 2017 - Wilston Grange - Home

Reserves Match Report

The story of this match was in the first quarter when we were outscored by 5 goals to 1 to go into quarter time 32 points down. We chipped back to be 17 points down going into the last qtr with the wind favouring us in the last however we couldn’t pin back the margin and went down by 17 points. We need to get back to playing team orientated football and ensure we play the roles that are set for us. It only takes a few not contributing to impact the result. Our better players on the day were young guns Jarrod Mills, Cooper Portelli and returning key defender Brad ‘Fletch’ Carter.

Colts Match Report

We went into this match without our most potent player, Skipper Joel Baxter, who was completing the Kokoda challenge. Despite his absence we played well enough to win this one and in what was déjà vu we were overran late with surfers kicking with the breeze and kicked two late behinds to take a 2 point win. A tough few losses on the trot after being in winning positions both weeks. Better players on the day were Big Hayden Greentree, Brandon Gibbs and Tyler Brown.

Up to date ladders and draws can be found at www.labradortigers.com.au/seniors

For more information about Labrador Tigers please contact us - football@labradortigers.com.au

Thanks!

- Team Labrador

#maintaintheROAR

Tiger Talk - Seniors News - Round 11- 2017

Senior Club NewsOur annual Gala Ball is on Saturday night and Belinda has done a great job in the planning for this event. In what was a tight game until half time, our lads took the game away in the second half to run out convincing winners. In extraordinary circumstances we had 19 men on the field briefly prior to the beginning of the 3rd quarter. The umpires then conducted a head count and an ensuing free kick and 50m penalty was awarded to Palm Beach. We were also told on the day that our score up until half time had been wiped. Our lads dug deep to ensure that whatever decision was made, we were going to be the winners. Good players on the day for us were Dane Watmuff, Corey Mullins, Adam Clarke, Bill Hicks, Wade Mills, Lachie Smith and Sam Walker.

This Week – HOME vs Surfers Saturday

9:30am - COLTS

11:30am - RESERVES

2pm - SENIORS

Reserves Match Report

It rarely bodes well for the reserves when there are lots of forced changes to the seniors and that was the case this week. We were beyond our list of 60 to field a side and with the help of some late call ups from the Colts, we fielded a side but unfortunately we were on the wrong end of the scoreline. Special thanks to Joel Baxter for backing up after playing in the colts and also to Bradley Dowlman who played his first game of Reserve grade football. Our better players on the day were Jacob Sands, Jarrod Mills and Riley Watters.

Colts Match Report

As mentioned above a number of our young guns were playing in the reserves with additional players on representative duties, we went in a little depleted. In saying that, the lads played a much better all round game and were in control for much of the day only to be run down with a late goal to go down by 5 points. Skipper Joel Baxter continued his great season with a 5 goal BOG performance, with Dylan Young and Michael Kelly also getting the coaches nod.

Next 3 Weeks

15th July 2017 - Surfers - Home

22nd July 2017 - Bye

29th July 2017 - Sandgate - Away

Up to date ladders and draws can be found at

For more information about Labrador Tigers please contact us -

Thanks!

- Team Labrador

#maintaintheROAR

Tiger Talk - Seniors News - Round 10 2017

Senior Club NewsOur annual Gala Ball is fast approaching and Belinda has done a great job in the planning for this event. In what were perfect conditions for football the first term was relatively even with Broadbeach kicking straighter to take a lead into the first break LAB 3-3-21 to BB 5-0-30. Unfortunately for our club we lost Nabako Stow in the first 5 minutes to a collarbone injury and he was unable to return to the field.

In a game that never really hit any great heights in terms of quality we ended up taking the points 14-19-103 to 9-6-60.

16 year old Connor Budarick, younger brother of 2015 premiership player Dyson starred in his debut game. From there we kicked 12 goals to BB 5 to run out winners LAB 13-11-89 to BB 9-7-61. Our best on ground was 2015 senior premiership player Dyson Budarick, who is coming back from a long injury layoff at NEAFL level with Southport. Young colts Jarrod Mills was good in his first reserve grade game and Corey Mullins continued his rich vein of form.

Colts Match Report

Our colts side continued the flat period with a game most of the players would rather forget. Broadbeach, aided by some electrifying young academy talent, were superior on the day winning the game LAB 6-3-39 to BB 15-9-99. A big crowd gathered and to our players credit they turned it on in the first quarter with a 9 goal to 2 opening term. We lost a little bit of structure and Morningside played well against us in the middle part of the game before we kicked away again to run out comfortable winners.

Barry didn’t disappoint either, although a little wayward at times, finished with a 8 goal haul. Our skipper had a great game finishing with 5 goals and setting up many other shots on goal. And the ball doesn’t get forward without the midfielders getting their hands on the ball, all players who went through there contributed well on the day.

This Week – AWAY vs Broadbeach - Sunday

9:30am -COLTS

11:30am - RESERVES

2pm - SENIORS

Reserves Match Report

We fielded a reasonably strong reserve grade side with some established senior players coming back through there and performing to a very high standard. We had contributors all over the ground and to defeat a previously undefeated side in Morningside was a credit to the lads. Good players on the day included Gleeson and Davidson as well as young guns Connor Budarick, Lachie McDonald and Cooper Portelli.

Colts Match Report

Our rising stars have had a flat few weeks and they came up against a very good Morningside team on the weekend.
